Ectomorph Workout is an independent website about strength training, muscle-building programs, nutrition for muscle gain and recovery for lean beginners. We publish guides for lean beginners who find it hard to gain weight and want to build muscle and strength, with a focus on evidence-based strength training, progressive overload, calorie and protein intake, recovery and progress tracking for people who find it hard to gain weight.

Who we are

Ectomorph Workout launched in its current form in 2026 and is run by a small, independent editorial team. We are an online-only publication. We are not owned by, and do not work on behalf of, any manufacturer, brand or retailer, and no company reviews or approves our guides before they are published.

Websites that used the domain name ectomorphworkout.org in earlier years were run by other people and are not connected to the current site or its content.

What we cover

Our guides are organized into these sections: Muscle Building Workouts, Workout Programs, Nutrition for Muscle Gain, Training Equipment and Recovery and Progress. Each guide explains what matters for a given situation, which trade-offs to expect and where its advice stops.

How we research

Our content is written by the Ectomorph Workout editorial team. We base our guides on the U.S. Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and USDA FoodData Central, position stands from bodies such as the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN), and peer-reviewed research, and we link to the source when a guide states a figure or a safety point.

We are clear about the limits of our work. Unless an article explicitly describes our own use of a product, our guides are research-based and are not hands-on product tests. We do not invent test results, ratings or statistics. Read our Editorial Policy and How We Review for details.

Safety and scope

Our content is general fitness and nutrition education, not medical or dietary advice. Talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise program, and to a registered dietitian before major diet changes, especially if you have a health condition. Unintentional weight loss or difficulty gaining weight can have medical causes. Learn lifting technique with light loads and use safety bars or a spotter.
